When to travel, and what slows you down.
The expressway section between Clark and the edge of Metro Manila is the predictable part of this journey. Almost all of the variation comes afterwards: EDSA and the main arteries are heaviest during the morning and evening peaks and on Friday evenings, and the difference between a good run and a bad one can be an hour or more.
Early morning departures are the easiest, which is one reason a 5am or 6am pickup for a midday flight is a common request. Long weekends and the days either side of Christmas and Holy Week are the hardest, in both directions.
